On Monday, December 5th at 6pm the Eagle Lake City Council will be making a decision on whether an Environmental Impact Statement will be needed to proceed with the proposed project.

A public comment period was held September 20th-October 20th.  At the November 7th meeting it was determined that the developer STILL has not provided adequate information to allow the council to make an informed decision on an EIS so it was delayed AGAIN.  It's not that this information is being held for some big reveal, they simply cannot definitively show that the noise won't be an issue for the wildlife or what the cumulative impact this project could have on climate change.  Sited studies are either outdated or they don't exist.

Facilities such as the one proposed don't exist in this format not only because of the lack of profitable amenities (like a drag strip or large events), but because building near a designated wildlife lake isn't something responsible developers do or conscientious environmental/city/state agencies allow.

An Environmental Impact Statement is needed.  We hope the Eagle Lake City Council understands the gravity of this decision and what it could mean for the "safe, quiet community" of Eagle Lake.
