It is important for people to support this petition, because the presence of a McDonald's in Whittlesea will have adverse effects on local small businesses, which in turn will effect job stability. The Restaurant will be positioned in close proximity to the local Primary School sending the wrong message to kids about healthy eating. This could lead to increases in child obesity and diabetes. Another possible outcome of McDonald's being built in the small town of Whittlesea is the opportunity for youths to use the area as a 'local hang', which could lead to increases in crime. Further effects could include, traffic congestion and increased litter in the area.
Keeping all of these points in mind, is having a McDonald's in Whittlesea really what our small town needs?

We only have until the 28th of September before council will make a decision, so time is of the essence. We need to get the attention of as many people as possible and remember, signatures make all the difference!
