Open your hearts to man's best friend this Valentine's
The Issue
If you live in Delhi, you definitely know that street dogs are everywhere. They truly are a part of every Delhiites life, whether it be the pack of colony canines you see every day, your building’s guard dog that you’ve grown fond of or even the little puppy you fed Parle-G to last week. They are generally happy living their “lone wolf life” but I, and I’m sure you have too, noticed a sad and heartbreaking scene of an Indie dog being beaten with a baton because they made their way into the colony park.
The problem that I’m pointing out is the following: Why can I enjoy the lush green grass, the sweet aroma of fresh flowers and baby blue sky while sitting on a bench inside the park while poor animals that we know and love… can't? Why do they get beaten up and locked out of a place we take for granted?
The truth is that street dogs are loving animals that have to endure a noisy, gloomy and scary life. Why can’t we give back some of the love they give us by opening up the gates to our colony parks at night? Delhi parks on average, close their doors to the public at 8pm. Opening up the gates even 1 night a week would change things drastically; for the better.
That’s why I’m asking you, to open up your hearts to man’s best friend by signing this petition so that we can open up the parks to indie dogs during shut-eye hours.
Do you want to look back and see that you were on the right side of history?
If so, I ask again, SIGN THE PETITION! IT WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!
When we have reached our goal of 10 000 signatures, we will bring our case to different resident welfare associations and the Delhi municipality and fight to come to an agreement that would bring joy and light to our beloved dogs.
