The City of Harare is acutely desperate to plunder natural resources and immense flora of Harare by partnering the devil incarnate in the form of Africa Sun.Its decisions are putting profits before the people.11% of the people park,Harare Gardens has thousands of percent more than the US$1.7 million.The people park has no price.Its for the people and the flora therein and should not be sold. 

"The Harare Gardens is the main garden in the City. The gardens are very beautiful and they are an ideal place for  leisure, especially if you work in the city center.  . 

There is a basic playground for kids, and ample space for them to run around and have fun in. Also available in  the Harare Gardens is a wedding venue, which is a stunning place to have wedding photos taken. Clients are required to register for wedding photos at the Harare Gardens Office in advance.

In addition Harare Gardens has a stage for performances such as musical and dramatics, attracts many visitors ."

The City Council of Harare made a decision to sell part of the people park,The Harare Gardens to Africa Sun(www.africansunhotels.com).The Africa Sun runs the Holiday Inn franchise(www.holidayinn.com on behalf of the InterContinental Hotel Group(www.ihg.com).This peoples park face demise on the platter of a Conference Centre and Shopping malls.The payment that would be obtained will enable the City of Harare to cover just a week of outstanding salaries.

Over 70% of all open spaces,gardens,parks,wetlands,green zones,trees and other natural habitats have disappeared on the platter of promises and pledges of creating employment in just the past 10 years.Land barons have defiled the beauty of the city.If the city of Harare is not stopped.If this transaction is not stopped soon the City will sell the whole park to cover 10 weeks salary.The Mukivisi Woodlands,Greenwood park and Africa Unity Square will not be safe after this precedent.

The Harare gardens is one of the few remaining open spaces available for the socially and economically disadvantaged people to relax over weekends and lunch times.This picturesque park is enjoyed by workers,visitors and residents.Its one of the only remaining green spaces in the city.Its priceless.

The Harare Gardens also has within its premises the Les Brown swimming pool.One of the pools that the poor(which is the majority) can afford to swim and relax.I do not believe the City Council should sacrifice the pool of the people for a paltry amount that only  to pay a week salary

The City of Harare has abundant more space to offer these anti-people companies to construct conferences facilities that only the rich have access to.

The City of Harare has more abundant resources to exploit to generate revenue and drive profitability.They have to invest in deploying a strategy that doesn't take away people land and parks.

We require huge pressure on the City Council and the Government to stop this madness.The people want their park and the flora require preservation.

Each time you dine at a Holiday Inn in Zimbabwe you are committing an injustice to the economically disadvantaged.Any time you conference there,drink there or be accommodated there you are complicity in taking away the little pleasures we have as citizen-Our park!

We demand real commitments, that the city council shall reverse this mindless sale of a people park without even the decency of a referendum. We can't afford to wait any longer.
