Donald Trump, a 34-time convicted felon with over 25 sexual misconduct allegations and known associate of the notorious child sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein, is currently attacking the higher education system in order to bully institutions into aligning with his bigoted stances. He is threatening the removal of funding from universities that do not comply with his demands, an incredibly unconstitutional line of action. His regime has also been illegally detaining students from higher education institutions nationwide and deporting them to foreign prisons and concentration camps. With this invitation to speak at our commencement, the University of Alabama is endorsing the actions of the current administration and sending a message to the student body that money from a fascist regime is more important than instilling values of high moral standing across the campus and the state. As the Capstone University in the great state of Alabama, we believe that our institution should not bend a knee to tyranny or lick the boot of a fascist regime. We are requesting that the University of Alabama formally rescinds the invitation from Donald Trump to deliver the commencement address for the 2025 graduating class.
