I am writing this petition out of frustration and concern, not just for myself but for many others who have been caught in the same situation. A few of my close friends and even a brand account I manage have faced wrongful suspensions on X (formerly Twitter). In our case, the brand account faced suspension immediately upon registration, and despite appealing multiple times, the account remains suspended without any communication from X. This is not an isolated incident; there were no apparent rule violations as the account was only minutes old.

Thousands of users like us have shared similar experiences. People are being suspended without clear explanations and are met with a brick wall when they attempt to resolve the issue. Many have found that their appeals are reviewed and rejected almost instantaneously, implying the overwhelming reliance on automated systems to make these critical decisions. The lack of human oversight in this process has left many users with no recourse and a permanent loss of access to their accounts.

Social media platforms, including X, have become an essential part of our personal and professional lives, serving as tools for communication, business, and engagement. When accounts are unfairly or incorrectly suspended, it can result in significant personal and financial repercussions for individuals and businesses alike. The current system of handling account suspension appeals is woefully inadequate and needs urgent reform.

Reputable sources, including numerous user testimonials and investigative reports, have revealed that automated systems can and do make errors. When account activity is flagged by an algorithm, it should serve only as an initial step in a thorough review process that ultimately involves competent human oversight. Only through human review can we ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy in the suspension appeal process.

We demand that X implement a fair and transparent system where every suspended account appeal is reviewed by a human. We ask that they take immediate steps to reduce the over-reliance on automated systems which are currently not capable of handling such transparent and significant processes accurately.
