I am a regular tenant and business operator in the commercial plaza of West Covina. Like all members of this community, I have invested time, energy, and resources into this neighborhood to make it a safe and enjoyable place. However, we have recently experienced a surge in unlawful activities, break in's disrupting the tranquility and safety of our plaza as well as costing small businesses an increase in costly repairs- financial damages- payable by the business owner. These disturbances detrimentally influence our businesses and the overall ambiance of the locale. Without support from our city officials the longevity and survival of our local business will suffer, causing the businesses to have to relocate to safer city's. Our community as a whole will be affected.

According to the FBI Crime Statistics, the presence of monitored surveillance cameras can potentially reduce crime rates to over 7% in public areas. Therefore, we, the community of the plaza's entrepreneurs, and residents, believe that installing monitored surveillance cameras by the city's officials would immensely improve our situation. Besides monitoring crimes, these instruments can offer a sense of protection, stimulate commercial growth by maintaining a safer environment for both business owners and customers alike. 

We respectfully call upon the City of West Covina to take into consideration the safety of its local businesses and the public by placing surveillance cameras in our commercial plaza. This solution not only secures our present but also ensures a progressive and secure future for upcoming generations.
