🌿 A Community Coming Together for Real Change 🌿

For many years our community has witnessed increasing sewer overloading, sewage discharges and the growing impact that extreme rainfall and climate change are having on our environment and the River Wriggle.

Rather than simply complaining about the problem, local residents have come together to become part of the solution.

The recent public meeting, attended by more than 30 residents together with representatives from Wessex Water and Yeovil Rivers Community Trust, showed the strength of feeling within our community and the determination to make positive change happen.

Most importantly, this community-led approach is already making a difference.

Following the meeting, Wessex Water confirmed they are progressing proposals to recruit specialist Rainwater Management Advisers to help communities like ours deliver projects focused on reducing rainwater entering overloaded sewers. Discussions are also continuing around future funding and investment opportunities linked to rainwater management and infrastructure improvements.

As a community-led group, W.A.T.E.R. can work directly with Wessex Water, the Environment Agency, councils, landowners and businesses to encourage practical solutions and long-term environmental improvements.

But this project can only succeed with continued community support.

We need residents, volunteers, supporters and local organisations to stand together and help shape a better future for Yetminster and the River Wriggle for future generations.

You are warmly invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the W.A.T.E.R. Community Group:
