**Daily Update**

Spring is arriving… but our river is still dying.
The fields are turning green, hedgerows are bursting into life and spring flowers are appearing everywhere.But our beautiful River Wriggle and its tributaries remain cloudy, brown and lifeless.
Today I reported yet another incident where a tributary of the Wriggle was heavily discoloured, with banks of dirty foam collecting along the edges of the river.
This has been happening for months.
The response from the Environment Agency was deeply concerning.Initially there was little interest. Later they asked for photos and further reports — despite being told this is an ongoing problem.
Even more worrying:
• The investigation will be carried out by Wessex Water, the same company responsible for pumping untreated sewage into the river.
• The Environment Agency says it does not have the resources to test the water itself.
• There is no requirement to inform the public of the results.
That means the company responsible investigates itself, reports back to the regulator, and the public may never see the outcome.
That is not transparency.
Our river deserves better.
We are very close to reaching our first target, which will trigger a formal meeting with the Local Authority to address sewage pollution affecting our river and our roads.
