Key points:
• End sewage dumping in rivers and seas by forcing water companies to upgrade infrastructure.
• Replace the regulator Ofwat with a stronger Clean Water Authority with tougher enforcement powers.
• Ban executive bonuses at water companies until sewage pollution is stopped.
• Introduce a “sewage tax” on water company profits to fund river and sewage system improvements.
• Reform water companies into “public benefit companies” so environmental protection must be prioritised over shareholder profit.
