This is personal to me because I had purchased an air purifier on clearance at Walmart. When I brought it home, I discovered it was not only used, but also missing essential parts - including the filter and scent filter. The item was dirty, dusty, and thoroughly unacceptable to use in my home. Upon attempting to return the item, I was informed by Walmart staff that clearance items can indeed be sold in such condition, even with missing parts, without any requirements for disclosure on the packaging. As consumers, we should be clearly informed of what we are purchasing.

It's extremely concerning that a corporation as large as Walmart has such aloof standards of operation - and it purposes an unfair and deceptive practice against consumers. According to the Consumer Federation of America, clear and accurate information about a product is not just a fundamental consumer right but a critical aspect of a fair and efficient market economy (Consumer Federation of America, 2019). Walmart's current practice of not disclosing that clearance items may be used, incomplete, and/or in poor condition directly infringes upon these consumer rights.

Now, it's time for consumers to press for change. We demand that Walmart amends its policy towards the sale of clearance items. The policy should include mandatory disclosures about any signs of usage, missing parts, or poor condition directly on the packaging of the items. We can no longer accept large corporations taking advantage of consumers. We deserve to be informed.  They need to compensate consumers for these actions Please, sign this petition and help us bring about this crucial change.
