As a resident of British Columbia who frequently uses public transit, I have found the current Compass Card system for TransLink to be less accessible than it could be. When I think of the hassles I've experienced juggling between my physical card and my phone, I can't help but think of how much easier it could be if we could integrate the Compass Card into Apple Wallet.

Statistics from Apple's Mobility trends report show that over 60% of Canadians use an iPhone. Integrating Compass Card with Apple Wallet will enable over half of the province's population to travel more effectively, balancing their digital and physical belongings better.

Not only would this move cater to numerous loyal Translink commuters like myself, but it also fits within our broader movement toward digital solutions. Our society is progressing toward a cashless one, and providing an option to carry a digital Compass Card would be a step in the right direction.

Given that numerous transport agencies globally have enabled digital ticketing and card reading through mobile devices, I believe it is high time for Translink, the primary public transportation provider in BC, to follow suit.
