Thousands of fans bought tickets to see a full lineup, not just one headliner. That's exactly what happened on Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour this year. After rapper Macklemore was removed from the tour following a political controversy, every remaining support act, including Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga, chose to leave as well. Many fans who bought tickets specifically to see those artists were left with a completely different show than the one they paid for.

When they asked for their money back, they ran into the same wall: Ticketmaster and SeatGeek's policies treat ticket sales as final, with refunds left almost entirely up to event organizers. "Event organizers determine refund policies," a Ticketmaster spokesperson told Newsweek. That may be technically true, but it leaves fans with nowhere to turn when the show they bought a ticket for barely resembles the one they will actually see.

This is not just about one tour. Any time a significant part of an advertised lineup drops out, whether because of scheduling, controversy, or a business decision fans have no control over, ticket holders deserve a real path to a refund, not a policy that quietly protects everyone except the person who paid.

Ticketmaster and SeatGeek should update their refund policies to guarantee an opt-in refund window whenever a material change is made to a ticketed event's advertised performers, giving fans an honest choice instead of a locked-in sale.
