June holds a special place in my heart as it celebrates the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a symbol of perfect love, compassion, and the power of transformation and healing. This sacred observance reminds us of the love Jesus has for humanity, promoting peace, community, and understanding - values that align profoundly with the teachings we strive to uphold daily.

For many in our community, especially within the Hamilton-Wentworth District Catholic School Board (HWCDSB), the month of June is a time for spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to living a life inspired by these divine virtues. Displaying the flag of the Sacred Heart of Jesus across our schools throughout June would not only honour this significant time but also serve as a visible commitment to nurturing these values in our students, educators, and community members.

Institutional recognition of the Sacred Heart can reinvigorate our dedication to compassion and empathy within our school communities. By prominently displaying the Sacred Heart of Jesus flag during June, HWCDSB can reinforce the importance of love and kindness, modeling these traits for our students.

The presence of the flag can serve to open dialogue and encourage spiritual growth for students, creating an environment where they feel encouraged to express their faith and explore what love and compassion mean in their own lives.

We respectfully urge the Hamilton-Wentworth District Catholic School Board to acknowledge this Holy time by hanging the flag of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in all its institutions during the month of June. Through this act, we can make a collective step towards strengthening our community’s faith and nurturing the profound values of love, compassion, and transformation.
