In recent years, I have witnessed, along with countless others, the horror of deaths and fires on our public roads. Not because of the usual suspects, but sadly, because of the unchecked use of beta products by Tesla and its customers. It cannot be overstated that beta product testing is necessary for technological advancements but allowing such tests on public highways has proven to be unsafe with dire consequences.

The extent of these consequences is far from negligible. There have been hundreds of reported cases of fatalities and fires linked to beta products from Tesla being used on public roads. Without suitable testing conditions, these immature products have resulted in tragic loss of life, property, and trust from the public, as reported by numerous accounts.

Tesla has a responsibility, not only to its shareholders and customers but equally to the general public, for whom safety should be paramount. We call on Tesla to ensure that their experimental beta products are tested only on private property, under controlled conditions. This will ensure that innovation does not mean a compromising on safety, and the public does not become unsuspecting guinea pigs in the quest for progress.

The impact of this change is clearly beneficial - by restricting tests to private property, Tesla will still have the room to innovate, yet without endangering the lives of the general public.

We urge Tesla to take this step in confirming and elevating their commitment to safety and ethical responsibility.

We urge our local and national politicians (i.e., US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg), and governing bodies (i.e., National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the U.S. and California Office of Traffic Safety) to enforce public safety laws and policies, and require companies like Tesla to immediately cease dangerous and lethal experiments on public roads.
