Require Social Security Administration to Notify Contributors of Changes by Mail

The Issue

I am in the middle of applying for survivor benefits and everyone I have talked to has given me a different answer. I have submitted my marriage license three times, and I've been told that I cannot collect because I am still working. The amount of money they told me I am allowed to make per month is ridiculous—no one in this country can live off $1,100 a month.

The Social Security Administration should notify everyone who contributes to the social security fund about any changes Congress makes by U.S. mail. They should also send surviving spouses notification of the time frame they have to receive lump sum death benefits, as well as the correct procedure for requesting survivor benefits, also by U.S. mail.

If you do not have to contribute to the social security fund, everyone should be informed that they have a choice.
