Require snow fence installation on 118th Ave in Fennville, MI
The Issue

My father has lived in the Fennville area of Michigan for a very long time, specifically along 118th Avenue. In the winters, this section from Todd Farm to Blue Star Highway becomes almost impassable due to snow drifts and blowing snow. It's a hazardous stretch of road that has only worsened since Consumers Energy required the removal of bushes which acted as a natural windbreak along this road.
This issue is particularly personal to me as my father is currently battling cancer. In the event of a medical emergency, I'm deeply concerned that an ambulance or emergency vehicles wouldn't be able to reach him on time due to the road closures caused by snow accumulation. A simple drive can turn into a risky endeavor with snow practically shutting down access.
The solution is straightforward: the installation of a snow fence along this vulnerable area of 118th Avenue between 62nd Street and 64th Street. Snow fences have proven effective in controlling drifts and keeping roads clear. They are a cost-effective means of ensuring safe passage during harsh winter months by reducing the speed and movement of snow from open fields onto the roadway.
The safety of our community must be a top priority, especially when simple preventive measures can make such a significant difference. Installing snow fencing will not only enhance safety for my father but for all residents and travelers in the area, ensuring accessibility for emergency and daily travel needs.
We call on the officials of Allegan County to take immediate action and install a snow fence along this section of 118th Avenue. Let's protect our loved ones and community members from the unnecessary and preventable risks that winter weather brings. Please sign this petition to show your support for this crucial safety measure. Together, we can ensure the safety and accessibility of our roads for everyone in our community during the winter months.
