I am writing this petition as a concerned parent who has witnessed firsthand the unacceptable hygiene standards at children's indoor play centres, notably at a venue named BOUNCE. During my two visits to this establishment, I was dismayed by the lack of cleanliness within the jungle gym area. The sight of visible build up of dust within the play equipment and the absence of regular cleaning routines were alarming. Despite my repeated complaints and attempts to address this issue with the management, my concerns have largely been ignored, by the venue, council and department of health.

It is well-known that children are particularly susceptible to infections spread through unhygienic environments. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, maintaining clean and sanitized environments is crucial to prevent the spread of communicable diseases among children. Alarmingly, studies have shown that germs can survive on surfaces like plastic and metal for up to several days, posing a continuous threat to children's health.

Government regulations and health guidelines need to be enforced to ensure play centres are held to strict sanitation standards, similar to those required in educational and childcare facilities. This would involve routine inspections, clear protocols for cleaning and sanitizing, and mandatory staff training on hygiene practices. Such measures would not only protect our children but also instill confidence in parents who frequent these establishments.

Children deserve to play, explore, and develop in safe environments without the risk of falling ill due to poor hygiene standards. We must act now to ensure all children's indoor play centres adhere to a clean and sanitized environmental standard. This change would offer peace of mind to all parents and caregivers and safeguard the health of our young ones.
