Require real human verification in money apps and social media an on government websites
The Issue
My name is Robert Short, and I am legally blind and currently living in Junction City, KY. In 2024, I faced a significant challenge when I was blocked from voting for president for the very first time. This happened because the systems failed to properly verify whether users were real humans. This experience was not just frustrating; it was disheartening, and it highlights a critical issue that affects many, especially those with disabilities.
In our digital world, apps like Meta/Facebook, Google Play, Mistplay, Swagbucks, and InboxDollars, which pay users or require some form of registration, should ensure that their systems robustly check for genuine human users. The current lack of effective human verification systems threatens not only the integrity of these platforms but also excludes and disadvantages users with disabilities, who might find traditional verification steps challenging.
The presence of bots and fake users within these platforms doesn't just distort user engagement but also presents significant security and financial challenges. Bots commit fraud, manipulate markets, and skew data. For someone like me, who is legally blind, conventional verification methods often prove to be obstacles rather than safeguards. Imagine being locked out of essential online services or payment apps simply because the system can't distinguish a real person from AI or a bot.
I propose that all platforms, especially those mentioned, implement a real human verification system. This system should be accessible and inclusive, accommodating the varied needs of individuals with disabilities. By doing so, these companies can save money by reducing fraudulent activities and ensure that no one, especially those with disabilities, is left out of important decisions or services due to inadequate verification processes.
Such a system could involve biometric verification, human verification tests that are user-friendly for those with disabilities, or other advanced technological solutions that respect privacy while ensuring authenticity.
Sign my petition to urge Meta/Facebook, Google Play, Mistplay, Swagbucks, InboxDollars, and all other relevant platforms to adopt more inclusive and secure verification processes. Let’s stop bots and protect the rights and access of all users, especially those with disabilities. Together, we can create a safer and more inclusive digital environment for everyone. Your signature can make a difference.
