Require OPay Nigeria to improve oversight of staff activities

Require OPay Nigeria to improve oversight of staff activities
The Issue
In January 2026, I experienced a distressing incident with OPay Nigeria that has left me frustrated and disappointed. A substantial amount of money was debited from my OPay account without my authorization on January 30, 2026. Despite my persistent efforts to resolve this issue and most importantly, secure a refund, I have been met with dismissive responses and a lack of accountability from the company.
It is alarming and concerning that a reputable FinTech organization like OPay Nigeria allows such discrepancies to occur without prompt corrective measures. This incident highlights a serious gap in oversight and accountability within the organization, particularly among staff lower in the chain of command. If such issues remain unaddressed, they undermine the trust and reliability that customers expect from a financial service provider.
OPay Nigeria must take significant steps to ensure stringent monitoring and supervision of their employees' activities to prevent unauthorized transactions and ensure customer complaints are handled with the seriousness they deserve. This includes implementing a more robust internal audit system, providing training for customer service representatives to handle disputes with empathy and efficiency, and enhancing communication between management and operational staff. A commitment to regular reviews and updates to policies governing employee conduct will reinforce accountability and protect customers like myself from financial distress due to unauthorized transactions.
I urge OPay Nigeria's Chief Executive and Managing Board to prioritize this issue to safeguard the interests of all users of their services. We need a dedicated approach to addressing customer grievances and ensuring transparency in their operations.
Please sign this petition to demand that OPay Nigeria improves the oversight of their staff's activities and reinforces consumer protection measures.
