My neighbors and I are residents of Champaign, IL, and we often do not receive our mail for days at a time. There have been instances where I've gone three weeks without receiving any mail while waiting for important documents. This is not just an inconvenience; it's a disruption to our lives.

This issue arises because one side of our street has no parking allowed. As a result, the only available space for residents to park their vehicles is on the other side of the street where mail delivery occurs. The current policy seems to discourage mailmen from delivering mail when cars are parked along the streets.

According to USPS policies, carriers should dismount if they can't reach the mailbox from their vehicle (USPS Operations Manual). However, this does not seem to be happening in our neighborhood.

We understand that safety is paramount and navigating around parked cars may pose challenges. However, we believe that there must be a way to ensure consistent mail delivery while maintaining safety standards.

We urge USPS officials in Champaign, IL to review these policies and implement changes that ensure regular delivery of mails even on streets with parking restrictions or limitations.
