The Issue

The deterioration of Bay County into a repository for trash that could once have been given a second life disappoints and frustrates me. Businesses have a pivotal role to play in this cleansing process. Therefore, I am urging the community and our local politicians to take immediate action to enforce that every local business in the area adopts a policy for promoting recycling and having recycling stations.

Recycling not only helps reduce the amount of waste being sent to our already full landfills but also saves resources, supports conservation and reduces pollution. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, recycling a single aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for three hours, underscoring the potential impact of widespread recycling.

This step, alongside the reopening of recycling centers can significantly support our county's cleanliness effort. The closure of recycling centers in the county has deprived numerous households from making a direct input in recycling efforts. It’s urgent and imperative for the life of our county to change this. Our land, sea, and air are choking on waste that could be recycled.

Join me in calling for our local businesses to make these essential changes and for the reopening of our recycling centers. Your signature is not only in support of a cleaner Bay County, but of a cleaner and safer world. Please, sign and share this petition now!
