Require Judges to Be Educated on Spotting Abuse

Require Judges to Be Educated on Spotting Abuse
The Issue
After being in multiple abusive relationships and cyberstalked for the past 10 years, I have made it my mission in life to advocate for those who have their voice stripped away from them. The judicial system is failing the children and families who are victims and survivors of abuse. The current system is not a safe place for victims or survivors to turn when in need of help; this must change!
Judges often lack the necessary training to identify signs of abuse effectively. This gap in education can lead to misjudgments that put victims at further risk. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence. Yet many cases go unrecognized due to inadequate training among legal professionals.
We call on lawmakers to mandate comprehensive education programs for all judges focused on recognizing signs of abuse. By doing so, we can create a more informed judicial system capable of providing better protection for victims.
Please sign this petition if you believe that our legal professionals should be better equipped to spot abuse and protect those most vulnerable!
