Require Irish Government to Prohibit No Fault Evictions

The Issue

My name is Carole York.  I am 73 years old. I have lived in this rented property for the past decade, paid my rent and maintained the property.  Yet, for the previous five years, I have been battling my landlord who wishes to evict me simply because he wants to sell the property.

Moreover, this property is not just a home. It serves as a sanctuary for abused ponies, providing these vulnerable creatures a new lease on life. It's called Putting in the Magic. Next year I will be offering Horse Guided Empowerment sessions where my ponies will help vulnerable people to live their best lives. The very existence of this sanctuary, and these beautiful animals, is in jeopardy due to this eviction.

More than that, I started a Gofundme to raise the money to buy the property myself but, despite numerous requests, the landlord refuses to give me a price. Neither has he ever advertised the property for sale.

Not only did he give me written permission to start the Sanctuary but he, in fact, encouraged me to do so. And now he wants us all gone.

My story is not a standalone narrative. Thousands in Ireland are under threat of losing their homes due to 'no fault evictions. There are currently 15000 people in emergency accommodation of which 4000 are children.

The government of Ireland must acknowledge this issue and carry the responsibility for safeguarding its citizens' welfare. They should legislate against 'no fault evictions', enabling thousands of residents to retain their homes, unthreatened.

This petition advocates for the well-being of each Irish citizen threatened by eviction without due cause. Your support can change lives and usher in the catalyst needed for this legislative change. Sign the petition, stand with us, compel the Irish Government to prohibit 'no fault evictions.' Let us espouse the belief that every person has an inherent right to a secure, stable home environment. Let's make this change, together.
