The Issue

Recovery is a personal journey I've witnessed up close, and I know firsthand how essential it is to have a secure and supportive environment when rebuilding one's life. Sober living homes should be sanctuaries where individuals can thrive in a structured and supportive setting, surrounded by people who are genuinely invested in their growth. However, the current lack of regulation and standards in many sober living homes leaves residents at risk of inadequate support and unethical practices.

To combat these issues, I propose we implement stronger regulations for sober living homes, including mandatory licensing, regular inspections, and comprehensive training requirements for house managers. By setting higher standards, we can ensure these homes truly prioritize the well-being of their residents and offer a safe haven for those on the path to recovery.

Unfortunately, too many sober living homes operate without proper oversight, which can lead to unsafe living conditions, exploitation, and inadequate support for residents. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a structured and supportive living environment significantly contributes to successful recovery outcomes. It is crucial that these homes are held to higher standards to make a real difference in the lives of those they serve.

Requiring mandatory licensing will ensure that sober living homes adhere to a certain level of quality and ethical standards. Regular inspections will help identify and rectify any issues before they negatively impact residents. Training requirements for house managers will create an environment of accountability and competence, where residents can trust those entrusted with their care.

By imposing these requirements, we are not only holding sober living homes accountable but also ensuring that individuals seeking recovery have access to the environment they truly deserve—a safe, ethical, and supportive home.

Please join me in advocating for higher standards for sober living homes. Sign this petition to demand stronger regulations that prioritize the well-being and safety of individuals on their path to recovery. Together, we can make a difference that saves lives and promotes genuine growth for those in recovery.
