The Issue

As a resident of Milton, I am deeply concerned about the practice of leaving graphic images at our front doors. These images are frequently disturbing and intrusive, violating our privacy and peace of mind. This is not merely an issue of free speech—it's about respecting human and women's rights by preventing unwanted exposure to harmful content.

Visual content that can cause distress should not be imposed upon individuals and families in our community. These images risk causing unnecessary emotional distress to residents, particularly children, who are innocent bystanders unknowingly exposed to graphic content.

Our homes should be sanctuaries where we are free from unsolicited and graphic materials that can incite emotional turmoil. Therefore, I am advocating for a policy that requires any graphic images distributed in our area to be enclosed in clearly-marked, opaque envelopes. This simple yet effective solution protects individuals’ rights to privacy and shields our community from invasive content, without infringing upon the rights of those who wish to distribute such materials.

Other communities have successfully implemented similar measures, proving it is a feasible and responsible approach. For instance, areas in Canada have opted for strict protocols regarding unsolicited materials, ensuring a safer and more considerate distribution of content.

This issue is urgent. Every day that passes without action is another day where residents must shield themselves and their families from unwanted exposure to distressing images. By signing this petition, you are taking a stand for the rights of all Milton residents to live without fear of uninvited and harmful disruptions right on their doorstep.

Join me in urging local authorities to mandate that all graphic images be delivered in opaque envelopes, ensuring the well-being and dignity of our community. Sign the petition today to demand change and protect our right to a peaceful and respectful living environment.
