The Issue

Living in the Davenport Neighborhood, a peaceful community under the Easthaven HOA, I find myself constantly disturbed by the unrelenting noise emanating from the nearby highways I-16 and I-95 in Pooler, Georgia. Despite being half a mile away from I-16 and a little over a mile from I-95, the sound of cars, trucks, and other vehicles piercing through the night is so loud that it often wakes me up. My neighbors and I, as constituents who cherish our homes, face disrupted sleep, unexpected disturbances when engaging in outdoor activities, and deteriorating quality of life due to this incessant noise pollution.
The issue is magnified for residents living even closer to this intersection, where the noise is undoubtedly more intense and perpetual. They too have voiced their complaints over the reverberating sounds that echo through day and night. It's time for us to come together as a community to tackle this persistent problem and take meaningful steps to restore peace and tranquility to our neighborhoods.
We respectfully urge the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) to commission a thorough study to measure the noise decibel levels at the intersection of I-16 and I-95. The aim is to accurately assess the extent of the noise and its impact on our lives. Following this study, it is imperative that sound barriers are strategically installed on both highways to significantly reduce noise pollution.
Sound barriers have proven to be effective solutions in many communities facing similar issues. By absorbing, reflecting, and deflecting noise, these barriers can dramatically decrease sound levels and improve the overall living environment for all residents. Installing sound barriers will not only benefit us today but will also add value to our properties in the future.
Let us raise our voices not to generate more noise, but to call for action and change. We shouldn't have to choose between living in our beloved homes and compromising on our quality of life due to noise pollution. By signing this petition, you will be supporting a cause that champions peace, health, and well-being for all residents near the Southwestern Quadrant of I-16 and I-95.
Please sign this petition to urge the Georgia Department of Transportation to acknowledge our plight, conduct the necessary study, and take swift action to install sound barriers. Together, we can create a quieter, more serene environment for all Pooler residents.
