Require flock cameras to focus on traffic violations
The Issue
Every time I take to the streets, I can't help but notice how Flock Safety cameras (A.L.P.R's), which were initially intended to address traffic violations, are instead becoming tools for issuing a plethora of criminal citations. It’s frustrating and disheartening to see our technology being used not for its primary goal, but skewed towards something else entirely.
Flock Safety cameras were designed as tools to aid police in monitoring and curbing traffic-related infractions, ensuring that our roads are safe for everyone. Instead, they are increasingly used to cite individuals for non-traffic related criminal activities. Such misuse diverts focus from pressing traffic concerns and undermines the true purpose of these surveillance tools.
Why does it matter? Because the original intention behind installing these devices was to streamline efforts that aid in maintaining order on our roads, not to act as a catch-all for any kind of criminal citation. While addressing criminal concerns is undoubtedly important, using these cameras for issues beyond their design detracts from both efficiency and effectiveness in dealing with actual trafficking concerns.
Let’s advocate for the proper use of Flock cameras so they can contribute to safer roads, as they were initially intended. Traffic safety should not be compromised by an inflated scope of surveillance.
Join me in urging our local authorities to reassess the function of Flock cameras, making sure they operate within their original purview. Sign this petition to ensure these cameras aid in addressing traffic violations specifically, contributing significantly to the safety and orderly conduct of our roads.
