Require Dunlap CUSD #323 to hire an independent team for additional proposal ideation
The Issue
On August 6th, the Dunlap School District shared their proposals for elementary and middle school boundary changes. Presented were two elementary and two middle school boundary proposals. I am deeply concerned about the clarity and effectiveness of these proposals as they stand.
The issues in the proposals are immediately apparent. Firstly, there is a glaring lack of unique proposals intended to provide different options for balancing enrollment efficiently across schools. The proposals currently do not allow for the community, parents, and stakeholders to assess varying approaches that might better serve our district's needs.
Moreover, the enrollment figures provided do not align with our current enrollment numbers. This discrepancy raises significant questions and undermines our ability to fully comprehend the impacts of the proposed changes. Without accurate data calibration and transparency, stakeholders cannot make informed decisions, thereby impacting trust in the committee's process.
To ensure a fair and transparent process, we are calling on the Dunlap School District to engage an impartial external group. This group would be tasked with evaluating and proposing at least one alternative plan for both elementary and middle school boundaries. Furthermore, each proposal should be reformatted into clear and concise formal documents where every aspect can be reviewed, understood, and scrutinized by community members and decision-makers alike.
