Require CPS Energy to investigate/fix San Antonio Westover Valley/Creekside Power Outages
The Issue
Every time a storm rolls through San Antonio, TX, I find myself bracing for the inevitable power outage that seems to plague our neighborhoods (Westover Valley & Creekside) more frequently than others. When the lights flicker and then go out, I see the distress in my children's eyes and feel the discomfort and uncertainty it brings to my spouse and our entire family. More than just a personal inconvenience, these repeated outages impact our entire community, disrupting work, school, and daily life.
Despite living in a modern city, it feels like we're stuck in an era of unpredictability, where a minor weather shift has the power to plunge us into darkness without warning. Our neighborhood is unified in its frustrations, having experienced countless disruptions that force us to throw out spoiled food and expensive refrigerated medications, struggle with heating and cooling systems, spend hundreds of dollars on backup generators and natural resources to fuel them, and abandon attempts at a normal life until the power returns. Each blackout seems to stretch on longer than the last, and there appears to be no clear solution or accountability from CPS Energy.
According to CPS Energy records, the occurrence of power interruptions in our area far exceeds that of other neighborhoods. The constant uncertainty erodes the quality of life and causes unnecessary stress for families and businesses alike. It is not just a power issue; it's about our safety and wellbeing. For the elderly population and those with young children, prolonged power cuts can pose health risks that should be deemed unacceptable under any circumstances.
It is imperative that we demand action from CPS Energy leaders to thoroughly investigate and address the roots of our electrical grid problems. We propose that CPS Energy conducts an immediate and comprehensive assessment of the current infrastructure at Westover Valley (specifically the back half of the subdivision) & Creekside - and take measurable steps to improve reliability. This should include the potential upgrade of the present systems, increased maintenance schedules, and transparent communication with residents about works being undertaken and timeline estimates.
We believe that by shining a spotlight on our plight, we can compel CPS Energy to take responsibility and implement sustainable solutions for the benefit of our neighborhood and beyond. Let us unite in insisting on a future where staying connected to power isn't a gamble but a certainty. Join us in signing this petition to urge CPS Energy to act now for our community's wellbeing and peace of mind.
Please sign this petition to help us bring light back into our homes and stability back into our lives.
