When this petition started in late August 2021, the FDA had fully approved a COVID vaccine amid a surge in cases driven by the delta variant.

The CDC states that vaccinations are the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In late November, the director of the CDC warned that unvaccinated people are at 14 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19 than people who were vaccinated.

To protect the health of both our NKU community and our families, we call upon NKU President Ashish Vaidya and NKU Provost Matt Cecil to follow the science and lead the institution in requiring employees and students to be fully vaccinated in order to work on campus or attend in-person classes.
