The Issue

Residents of Spruce Valley Estates and The Ridge at Spruce Valley in Jeffersonville, KY are calling for change. Despite paying the same property tax rates as any other property owner in Montgomery County, we do not receive the vital service of county-maintained roads that others enjoy. Living in a community where roads are neglected not only creates daily inconveniences but raises safety concerns for all residents and increased property maintenance issues.

The current condition of our roads, riddled with potholes and erosion, poses risks not only to vehicles but also to public safety. In times of emergency, every second counts, and poorly maintained roads increase response times for emergency services. Moreover, these conditions can cause damage to vehicles, leading to costly repairs that burden families unjustly. The excessive dust creates increased property maintenance issues. The costs and responsibilities of road maintenance create ongoing conflict and tensions in the community. Rumpke refused to pick up trash in our community for over one month this past winter, creating potential for health and sanitation issues. It is an often occurrence, especially during the winter months when the USPS mail carrier refuses delivery to our neighborhood due to the conditions of our community roads.

Montgomery County has a responsibility to ensure that all its residents have access to safe and well-maintained roads. It is imperative that the local government recognize the necessity of blacktopping and/or regularly maintaining the roads in our communities. Bringing our roads up to standard not only benefits our daily commutes but also enhances property values and instills a sense of community pride.

Concrete action and commitment are needed from Montgomery County Government to prioritize the blacktopping and/or ongoing maintenance of Spruce Valley Estates and The Ridge at Spruce Valley roads. Our communities deserve equitable access to the services our tax dollars support.

Please sign this petition to urge Montgomery County to take immediate and necessary steps to ensure the roads in Spruce Valley Estates and The Ridge at Spruce Valley are properly maintained. Together, we can create a safer, more connected community for everyone.
