Require Chamberlain University to halt the use of ProctorU

Require Chamberlain University to halt the use of ProctorU
The Issue
I am a student at Chamberlain University, and I know firsthand the challenges that come with using ProctorU. Recently, I missed two crucial exams because of the onerous requirements and technical difficulties associated with the platform. This is not just my struggle; many of my peers face similar obstacles.
ProctorU is an online proctoring service aimed at ensuring academic integrity. However, the software often proves to be more of a hindrance than a help. It’s cumbersome, difficult to navigate, and has caused unwarranted stress among students. The lengthy process can delay exams, becoming an impediment rather than a facilitator of our education.
Many students, including myself, have experienced significant delays and disruptions during exams. In an academic environment already burdened with challenges, this should not be an additional hurdle. According to a survey conducted among students using ProctorU, over 35% reported issues such as connectivity problems, software crashes, and intrusion into personal privacy. These complications can have serious consequences on students’ academic performance and overall well-being.
Chamberlain University prides itself on offering a student-centered educational experience, but the mandate of using ProctorU is clearly not aligned with these values. Instead, we propose the adoption of alternative examination methods that are equally secure, yet more user-friendly. This could include in-person exams, asynchronous online assessments, or the use of simpler, more intuitive proctoring software.
In the interest of preserving the integrity of our exams while also respecting students’ time and effort, it's crucial for Chamberlain University to reconsider its current testing methods. We are calling upon the administration to listen to the valid concerns raised by its student body and explore better, more efficient options for online exam proctoring.
Join us in advocating for a change that will benefit the entire student community. Sign this petition and help us urge Chamberlain University to halt the use of ProctorU for testing purposes and seek alternative solutions that work for all students.
