The Sheriff's Department must ensure proper medical care for all inmates, especially those suffering from substance withdrawal, and implement transparent communication with families involved in these tragic incidents. A thorough investigation into these deaths, including my friend's tragic loss, should be re-opened and investigators must re-engage with affected families to provide them the transparency and answers they deserve.

Additionally, the department must develop robust procedures that allow domestic abuse victims to report their situations without the fear of punitive consequences. Community safety depends on a responsive and compassionate law enforcement agency that respects human dignity and upholds justice through its actions.
