The Issue

It has reached a point where, astonishingly, shopping for kids' school clothes and shoes at Walmart is cheaper. This situation undermines the very mission of Goodwill—to provide affordable goods to those who need them most.
The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this issue. It has not only created financial strains for many families but also highlighted the need for access to affordable clothing and goods. With inflation on the rise, low-income families are left struggling to make ends meet, forcing them to choose between basic necessities and clothing for their children. Goodwill has historically been a lifeline during such times, yet their current pricing model no longer aligns with the needs of the community.
Aside from price concerns, the closure of dressing rooms in many stores has proven to be another significant hurdle.
