This issue is deeply personal to me and affects both our residents and visitors alike. I see neighbors struggling due to the lack of a vehicle or license, unable to find an affordable and efficient way to go to work or run errands. We also have a high volume of visitors contributing to the local economy, many of whom visit our exquisite wineries and stay at local Air BnBs, yet also lack sufficient affordable public transportation options.

However, despite the demand, our county lacks robust, affordable public transportation that operates every day, all day. This has major implications for both the social and economic aspects of our county. Lack of transportation can make it challenging for low-income individuals to access jobs, thus creating and reinforcing cycles of poverty.

Furthermore, according to a 2015 report by the American Community Survey, individuals without access to a car had lower employment rates. But it's not just about employment, adequate transport can lead to better access to education, medical services, and community activities. The implications stretch beyond our local residents to impact tourism; our visitors too need reliable and affordable ways to enjoy what our county has to offer.
