The Issue
For over 16 years, I have dedicated my life to healthcare. Being a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), I have seen firsthand the grueling reality of our work environment. The shortage of CNAs is not just a number on a report — it’s a human toll felt by both caregivers and those in our care. With an unmatched dedication, we tend to those in need, yet the compensation we receive fails to reflect the hard work and long hours we put in. While it’s disheartening to see corporate profits rise, CNAs struggle to make ends meet. Raising the minimum wage for CNAs to $25 an hour is more than a financial necessity, it's a way to acknowledge our commitment. The current pay structure doesn't support us or allow us to adequately provide for our families. Many CNAs are forced to work multiple jobs just to survive, which affects their health, well-being, and ability to care for patients. A fair wage would decrease turnover, reduce burnout, and lead to better patient care. Stability in employment and availability of experienced CNAs will ensure that patients receive the quality care they deserve. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there will be over 1.5 million CNA positions available by 2026 in the United States. This projected increase in demand underscores the need for supportive financial and professional growth structures. Ensuring a reasonable wage is a fundamental step. Healthcare establishments must recognize our efforts and reflect their appreciation through fair compensation. Public pressure can drive this change. Join me in calling for mandatory legislation that ensures CNAs receive a minimum wage of $25 an hour ,yearly raises ,and wages determined by years in the field. Sign this petition to help us secure the respect and financial security we deserve for our relentless dedication to this critical field.
