The Issue

I live in the Hampton Park Community, and the persistent noise pollution has become an unbearable disturbance for our tranquil neighborhood. Noise from nearby highways and roads has escalated to levels that disrupt our day-to-day lives, affecting everything from peaceful nights to daily tasks. We deserve to live in an environment free from overwhelming noises that can lead to increased stress, disturbed sleep, and negative impacts on our health.

Recently, it has become evident that the noise levels have changed significantly, potentially due to increased traffic and construction activities. However, it's been years since the last noise survey was conducted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The outdated data does not reflect our current reality. Our community deserves a reassessment to adequately measure the present noise levels and determine whether a noise barrier wall is necessary.

According to the World Health Organization, long-term exposure to traffic noise can contribute to cardiovascular diseases, sleep disorders, and even decreased academic performance in children. These health impacts can be detrimental to our community if the noise issue remains unaddressed.

Therefore, we urgently call upon the FDOT to conduct a new and comprehensive noise survey at Hampton Park. The reassessment must take into consideration all recent changes in traffic patterns and community expansion. If the new survey identifies that noise levels exceed acceptable thresholds, we request the installation of a noise barrier wall as soon as possible.

Your support is crucial to make this request heard. Together, we can advocate for a peaceful living environment. Please sign this petition to urge the Florida Department of Transportation to prioritize our community's need for a noise level reassessment and potential noise abatement solutions.
