Requesting Clean and Reliable Water Infrastructure for Holmes Rock and Deadman's Reef

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Holmes Rock and Deadman's Reef communities, are writing to express our deep concern regarding the ongoing issues with our personal well water supply. Access to clean, safe, and reliable drinking/bathing water is a fundamental human right, essential for the health and well-being of our families and future generations. Unfortunately, our communities have been facing persistent problems that jeopardize this basic necessity.

The water quality in our wells has deteriorated significantly over recent years. According to a 2022 report by the Bahamas Water Resources Management Unit, nearly 40% of tested wells in Grand Bahama showed contamination exceeding safe limits (source: Bahamas Water Resources Management Unit). This poses serious health risks including gastrointestinal illnesses and long-term conditions like cancer.

We urgently call on local government and the West End & Bimini Minister to take immediate action by investing in Grand Bahama Port Authority water infrastructures for our communities.

Please sign this petition to demand clean and reliable drinking water for Holmes Rock and Deadman's Reef Section C, D, E, F communities!
