Requesting a feasibility study by seaside Councils for a sea water swimming pool.

Requesting a feasibility study by seaside Councils for a sea water swimming pool.
The Issue
Inner metropolitan Adelaide does not have a sea water pool for the use of residents and visitors. A feasibility study by consulting engineers experienced in coastal engineering processes and engaged by seaside Councils such as the City of Charles Sturt, would determine if it is possible to select an appropriate location and plan for the construction and operation of a sea water pool. In fact there was a sea water pool at Henley from 1935 to 1985 when it was damaged, but modern engineering technology and materials can be applied to ensure the design for structural integrity of a pool for a 100 year "life", to withstand coastal forces.
Benefits of a sea water pool:-
Reduced exposure to chemicals: Sea water pools use natural saltwater instead of chlorine or other harsh chemicals, which can be more gentle on skin and eyes.
Health benefits: Swimming in sea water pools can provide health benefits due to the minerals and trace elements found in saltwater, which can help to detoxify and nourish the skin.
Improved buoyancy: The higher salt content of sea water can increase buoyancy, making it easier to float and reducing the impact on joints during exercise.
Environmental sustainability: Sea water pools can be more environmentally sustainable than traditional pools, as they require less water and energy to maintain.
Aesthetic appeal: Some people find the natural, ocean-like look of a sea water pool to be more visually appealing than a traditional pool.
Sea water pools are “family friendly” and minimise the risks of exposure to sharks or users being caught in rips in the sea.
By advising the seaside Councils of the number of persons signing this petition, the Councils will then appreciate the demand for such a valuable asset to be used by current and future generations. If the feasibility study determines an appropriate location, the Council can then plan for the design and undertake the approvals process that involves the Coast Protection Board, followed by budgeting for the actual construction and operation of a sea water pool.
