IETLAA is Institute of Engineering and Technology Lucknow Alumni Association. Recent proposal of merger of our IET Lucknow with AKTU was in newspaper articles. IETLAA strongly opposes this merger. This petition is to request not to proceed with this merger.

IET Lucknow has a rich legacy that dates back to its establishment in 1984. Over the years, it has earned a stellar reputation for its academic excellence and contribution to the field of engineering, not just in India but also on an international scale.

With regards to the proposed merger, we would like to bring the following facts to your kind notice.

1.   Presently IET Lucknow is recognised as an autonomous institute by UGC and accordingly has been granted National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation in Tier 1 putting it on the same pedestal with premier Institutes across the world. As a result of NBA accreditation under Tier 1, students of IET are recognized and given preference in higher studies by more than 20+ countries as per Washington Accord. Its merger with AKTU will deprive IET of that status and at best it can get NBA accreditation under Tier 2 which will put its alumni in a disadvantageous position as compared to students of other premier institutes across the world.

2.   No discussions have been held with stakeholders- Faculty and staff of IET, Students and Alumni. We would like to submit that all the stakeholders are against this merger and the same has been conveyed by them through proper channels.

It is therefore requested that proposed merger of IET with AKTU may kindly be stopped and IET may be given complete autonomy to further improve the level of Technical education in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

This merger would not only undermine the institute's heritage and identity but also diminish its recognition, brand name and standing in the engineering community.

This is the letter from IET's current staff, including senior professors and teachers and administrative officials signing the opposition of this merger.
