The Issue

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the recent firings at Sabot School and are asking for an inquiry and response from the Board regarding them and subsequent resignations at the School.

These firings and their consequences have had a negative impact on student’s experiences both inside and outside of School.

We find the timing (halfway through the semester just before Spring break), the manner of removal (in front of staff with police escort) and lack of communication and justification for these firings from the current  Head of School especially troubling for the precedent it sets in a school that values community, dialogue and collaborative governance.

It sends a chilling message that stifles the ability of the school to live up to its core principles and creates an atmosphere of fear and speculation.

The simultaneous firing  of long time staff members integral to the Sabot community for ostensibly differing reasons on the same day  without communication to the staff, administration,  or parents, erodes our trust in the school’s communications and the Head’s motives.

In  these instances there is an unavoidable implication that the employees are guilty of some kind of wrongdoing. This constitutes reputational damage as well needlessly fracturing the Sabot community.

The follow up announcement of seven more staff members leaving at the end of this school year (2026) only reinforces these concerns.

Thus, we ask that the Sabot School Board fully investigate these actions, ask for accountability from the Head and respond to our concerns.
