Request the United States to adopt a more accurate nationality

Request the United States to adopt a more accurate nationality
The Issue
I, like many people, have been taught that the American continent is one and it is divided into three regions: North, Central, and South. This understanding emphasizes the distinct nations and cultures that make up these regions, each with its own unique identity. However, a recent shift to refer to the continent as "The Americas" has introduced a new, perhaps more generalising, theory suggesting the existence of two continents: North America and South America. While the interpretation of continental divisions can vary, one concern persists - the designation of the United States as "America".
This usage implies that the United States represents the entire continent or even both continents. It overlooks the numerous other countries that form an integral part of these continents and can unintentionally diminish their significance. It poses a symbolic erasure of the diverse identities that form this extensive geography. This issue might seem minor to some, yet it carries implications regarding representation and respect for all countries within the continent and/or region.
The United Nations, in its standardised geographical scheme, recognises six inhabited continents, subdividing America into two: North America and South America. This understanding goes beyond just geography, and it doesn't fully respect the cultural identity of each country that forms part of the continent.
We are therefore urging a reconsideration of the terminology associating the entire entity of "America" with the United States only. It would be more reflective of this diverse continent's nature to designate a more geographically specific term as the United States' nationality. This change would serve as a symbol of respect for the rich variety of nationalities and cultures that truly constitute "America".
