For a city to function effectively and ensure the welfare of its residents, we rely heavily on the integrity and leadership of our city officials. As residents of Medicine Hat, Alberta, our faith in such leadership has been greatly shaken, specifically due to the actions of our current City Manager, Anne Mitchell.

In my opinion, in her relatively short stint of 22 months, Ms. Mitchell has created a profound discord within our City Hall staff and our mayor. She embarked on an unauthorized reorganization of our city's personnel which was not only done without the consent of the city council, but also led to a substantial disarray in our administration. Worse, she has been deceptive, even to the extent of lying to our mayor, and has not hesitated to threaten a lawsuit unjustly. 

In my opinion, Her actions breach trust and ethics; she has shown disdain for proper protocol by admitting to ignoring the Municipal Government Act. Such actions are unacceptable for a person in her position, someone who is supposed to lead by the principles of transparency, fairness and respect.

Our city deserves a City Manager who respects the law and the rights of their co-workers, someone who understands transparency and truthfulness are cornerstones to their role. It's for these reasons that we request Anne Mitchell be removed from her position as City Manager.
