Kratom (Mitragynine speciosa) is an herb from Southeast Asia that has steadily increased in popularity in the United States.  It is marketed as an alternative to prescription drugs for things like pain, depression and anxiety.  The problem is, Kratom has NO proven medicinal use and very few studies have been conducted to determine drug contraindications. 

Kratom is addictive and deadly. Here are some facts to support our position:

-There are no FDA-approved uses for kratom, and the agency is warning consumers not to use any products containing the botanical substance kratom.   06/02/2023

-DEA has listed kratom as a "Drug and Chemical of Concern". April 2020

-Kratom is currently ILLEGAL in 6 states and over 30 countries.

-Kratom (Mitragynine Toxicity) is listed as the cause of death in 100's of cases, including our healthy 23 year old son Ethan. Many more expected as kratom is not commonly tested for by medical examiners. 

We urge the DEA to consult with medical professionals and researchers to fully understand the risks associated with Kratom and then make an educated decision to place Mitragynine Speciosa (Kratom) on the list of Schedule I or II drugs.
