Anthropic claims to be the most responsible of the popular AI tools. However, it has just announced that it will use Colossus, a supercomputer owned by xAI (and therefore by Elon Musk), in one of Memphis's dirtiest data centers to double Claude's capacity.

These data centers are powered by unauthorized methane generators that emit thousands of pollutants into the environment, harming the neighborhood and health, and increasing the risk of asthma and cancer.

We want to use responsible artificial intelligence. According to recent research, data centers are responsible for around 2% of all global carbon emissions. Therefore, we need to ensure that using these tools doesn't exacerbate the environmental crisis.

We demand data centers powered by clean, renewable energy. We demand traceability in resource use and environmental responsibility from all stakeholders in the technological revolution.
