As someone deeply moved by the ongoing crisis in Gaza, I find it unacceptable that Lilly Singh, a Canadian actress, comedian and content creator who serves as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, has chosen to stay silent on this issue. She has stated that the situation is "too complex" for her to comment on. However, an ambassador of such stature should be willing and able to research and understand these complex issues.

The conflict in Gaza has resulted in the tragic loss of over 20,000 civilian lives including 8,000 children. These are not just numbers but lives cut short due to violence. As an ambassador for the United Nations - an organization committed to maintaining international peace and security - it is crucial for Ms. Singh to use her platform responsibly.

Her inability to speak up about this genocide raises questions about her suitability for this role. We need ambassadors who are not afraid or too lazy to learn about critical global issues like genocide.

Therefore, we urge the United Nations to reconsider Lilly Singh's position as a Goodwill Ambassador due her lack of engagement with serious human rights concerns such as those happening in Gaza right now.
