Dear Touchet Community,

We ask for your support regarding a matter that many community members, parents, and supporters of the Touchet School District have become increasingly concerned about.

As we look ahead to the next school year, we would like to request the removal of a current teacher from any teaching or other positions within the district. Over time, many of us have witnessed actions and behaviors that we believe have caused unnecessary division, stress, and hardship within our school community.

In his role as union president, this individual has repeatedly filed grievances that could have been avoided by better communication and professionalism.  This has caused the district significant time, money, and resources. Rather than helping move the district toward solutions and unity, his actions have contributed to negativity and conflict.  He has made the roles of Superintendent, School Board Member, Business Manager, and other employees/volunteers difficult this year, and has contributed to division between Administration and teachers.

In addition, multiple parents have stated that they are not comfortable allowing their students to be placed in his classes.  We don’t appreciate the personal ideologies and agendas in the classroom; it’s his job to teach the subject matter he has been hired to teach.  The inappropriate discussions and comments in the classroom such as trangenderism, religion, unisex bathrooms, and other “woke” topics are not encouraged in this small-town, rural community.

We understand the seriousness of asking for personnel changes within our schools. However, we believe our district deserves educators and leaders who bring people together, promote professionalism, and help create a positive environment.    Removing this staff member will lead to a healthier and more productive future within our school walls.

Sincerely,

Cory and Shannon Crouthamel, representing a larger Roundtable Group
