Request RBKC for padel courts study in Holland Park
The Issue
We, the undersigned, live, work or study in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and ask RBKC to commission and publish a feasibility study into providing public-access padel courts in Holland Park, and then to deliver them subject to public consultation, planning permission, funding, and appropriate heritage, environmental and neighbour safeguards.
The feasibility study should consider locations within or next to existing hard-surfaced sports areas where practicable, so that the proposal avoids unnecessary loss of green open space. It should assess options for adding padel without unacceptable loss of existing public tennis or other sports provision.
The study should include noise, lighting, heritage, ecology, tree, access and traffic impacts; capital and maintenance costs; potential funding or concession models; and a booking model that includes affordable resident access, junior sessions, community use and inclusive provision.
Holland Park already supports public sport, and padel is a social, accessible racket sport that can help residents of different ages stay active locally. We ask RBKC to report back publicly on the feasibility of this proposal and the next steps for delivery.
