This topic has become the talk of the town in the property investment communities, and many are raising their concerns on this decision. We all have decided to raise our voice through this online petition so that QLD government can hear us. 

We request QLD government to re-think about the latest announcement they made in July 2022 regarding “Interstate properties and land tax” as this might cause more harm to Queensland’s economy than good.

Reforms like these would scare off potential property investors and would significantly increase the holding costs of existing investors, which would then result in higher rents for tenants. When investors backoff from QLD then this might further worsen the rental crisis in QLD caused by low housing supply. 

Most of the property investors are not very wealthy. Most of them are normal Mom and Dad investors who are making sacrifices on their current lifestyle to build their nest egg so that they do not have to depend on government during their retirement. Discouraging property investors with reforms like these will only put more pressure on government’s pension fund if people cannot fund their own retirement.

We hope QLD government understands our concern and will re-thing about their decision on “Interstate properties and land tax”
